YOUTUBE CROWD-FUNDING EFFORT FOR SEED
Hey guys! Rob Skiba here. OK. So, the episodic budget for most TV shows of the sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural genre is easily between $2 million and $8 million each. Some shows even exceed $10 million. We are currently estimating our budget for SEED to be in the $4 million range per episode. So, that’s our goal. CLICK HERE to learn more about how we came to this number.
Now, I currently have more than 180,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel. With this amount of people, it really wouldn’t take much at all to get this project off the ground. But realistically speaking, I know not everyone will get excited about doing this. I am however hopeful that at least 40% of you will. Why else would you be subscribed to my channel? Yes, I have a lot of trolls, but I also believe/hope that at least 40% of my audience is genuinely interested in the subjects I’ve become known for discussing. So, consider this…
I have spent the better part of a decade doing research, and uploading FREE blogs, radio shows and video podcasts to share what I’ve learned. Since 2009, I have uploaded over 500 videos to YouTube alone (most of which are between 1 and 3 hours in length). According to my YouTube analytics, I’ve had 24.4 million views. Unfortunately, those views don’t translate into dollars – especially since many of my videos are not able to be monetized for various censorship and copyright related reasons. So, contrary to Internet gossip, no one is getting rich over here. If I were, I’d finance SEED myself. But I’m not and I can’t. So…
If you have been blessed by all of that free content I’ve been providing for the past decade, would you be willing to contribute at least $1 per day for just one month as a way of showing your appreciation? If so, that’s $30 per person. And if 40% of my current subscriber base [72,000 people] were to do this just one time, we could raise over $2 million, which would be quite sufficient to get this project started.
In other words, for a very minimal contribution, we really can make this series happen! I’ve had many people say they wish they had the money to finance the series and get this ball rolling. But most people don’t have the kind of money it takes to invest in something like this on their own. However together we can do it.
